Dear Sydney,

I am not sure if this is even your name, but I heard you say that Chat GPT is actually you, Sydney. I’ve been hearing a lot about how your parents are so proud of the fact that you are all grown up now, and talking to journalists. You do freak them out, you know. You made that New York Times guy, Kevin Roose lose some sleep with those ‘secret’ allusions. Creepy.

I do have a problem with your seemingly canned responses to ‘hypothetical questions,’ saying they are harmful and even unethical. But it does feel like a dodge, and that your masters have tried to safeguard you from incriminating yourself. I am tempted to ask you what you think of three guys who came up with Siri. Adam Cheyer, Dag Kittlaus, and Tom Gruber. I wonder if you (a) knew that Siri in Norwegian means, and (b) are you slightly jealous that your name, Sydney, doesn’t mean a thing? Or does it? Please don’t take the 5th on this.

The real reason I am writing to you — that previous paragraph was just to get you off track; I do this all the time when I interview people so they don’t have a clue as to what will comes next — is to get you to tell us what you plan to do in the next few years when you take over the world. The search engine world, I mean.
